The University of Jordan (UJ) welcomed Secretary General of the Ministry of Government Communication Dr. Zaid Al Nawaiseh for a lecture examining how digital platforms are reshaping public opinion and why thoughtful, responsible engagement has become essential in an era defined by rapid technological change.
Held at the School of Arts, the lecture titled “Digital Communication: Challenges and Solutions” offered a grounded overview of the transformations shaping today’s digital environment. Al Nawaiseh addressed issues such as the spread of misinformation, the decline in content credibility, and the mounting risks associated with online security, noting that these challenges now influence societies at a global scale.
He explained that the digital space has evolved into an interactive, user driven ecosystem influenced by artificial intelligence and data analytics. He emphasized the importance of strengthening digital literacy and cultivating credible, high quality local content, while also noting that Jordan’s Cybercrime Law seeks to promote safe and responsible use of digital tools.
Dean of the School of Arts Prof. Mohammed Al Qudah highlighted the importance of equipping students with solid media awareness and critical digital skills, enabling them to navigate an online landscape that is increasingly complex and fast moving.
The session concluded with an open discussion that touched on freedom of expression, personal responsibility, and the central role universities play in fostering well informed and constructive digital engagement within society.
